Drone Engineering Technician

Position: Drone Engineering Technician

Location: Huntington Beach, CA

Measure is a leading provider of Drone as a Service® for commercial enterprises, providing turn-key and on-demand drone flights and data products. Drones are quickly becoming an essential tool to deliver high-quality data to customers within a variety of sectors, including agriculture, energy, telecommunications, and newsgathering.

Measure’s Drone Engineering department is responsible for every aspect of drone functionality, from researching new technology to ensuring no mission is hindered by equipment malfunction. The Drone Engineering Technician will assist the Drone Engineering department to develop and maintain Measure’s UAS platforms and sensor technology. The primary role is to manage and maintain our technical services warehouse and workshop to ensure smooth, efficient, and effective operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in all phases of drone mission development
  • Coordinate and control logistical movements of all drone equipment in support of training missions and customer operational requirements
  • Manage and track inventory and assets, help forecast equipment needs and purchasing
  • Complete maintenance records, schedule aircraft parts requests and repairs, maintain system proficiency on all flight operations
  • Research and recommend new technology to improve performance
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the capabilities, limitations, sensor payloads, and data processing that Measure pilots employ
  • Ensure all proper flight entries are made into flight management software program for proper maintenance record keeping
  • Order, receive, organize, and ship a wide variety of drone hardware

Required Skills:

  • Obtained a degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or other technical field
  • Experience with UAVs and/or RC piloting/building
  • Strong technical and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self starter able to look ahead an anticipate problems before they begin
  • Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines
  • Unquestionable ethics and commitment to excellence

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with robotics and basic electronics
  • Previous experience in the professional or commercial UAV industry
  • Expert level experience with DJI hardware and software
  • Familiarity with computer programming (specifically Python, JavaScript, and C++)
  • Keen understanding of civilian airspace and aeronautical charts
  • FAA Remote Pilot Operator license
